Rosacea is unfortunately a common and lasting skin condition that most often affects middle-aged women with fair skin.

Typically it presents as persistent redness and visible blood vessels in the central part of your face.

It can sometimes be mistaken for acne, other skin problems or natural ruddiness.

The underlying cause is unknown but is thought to be a mix of hereditary and environmental factors.

Triggers can include:

  • Hot, spicy food
  • Excessive alcohol
  • Strong dry wind or hot sun
  • Emotions 
  • High intensity exercise
  • Certain cosmetics
